Joanna announces tour dates; but they’re really far away….
I became a big Joanna Newsom fan in 2007, right around when she stopped touring her newest album Ys. Since then, I ave been waiting patiently for Joanna to write some new harp-based gold, and sure enough, the rumor mills regarding new material have been getting pretty good lately. Today I learned excitedly that she is planning some tour dates!!! Praying for something on the east coast, I looked and saw the following:
01-16 Brisbane, Australia – The Tivoli
01-16 Sydney, Australia – Sydney Opera House
01-20 Melbourne, Australia – The Forum Theatre
01-21 Canberra, Australia – The Playhouse (Canberra Theatre Centre)
01-23 Thirroul, Australia – Anita’s Theatre
It appears that all these shows are conspicuously in Australia. Not that that’s a bad thing, I love Australia!! (although I’ve never been..) It’s just kind of.. far away? Thus, I’ll sadly be waiting for her to return to the US before considering seeing her, and keep the wait going.
The good news in all this of course is that touring means there’s new material, and if there’s new material, then well, hooray! Maybe some underground Australian videos will find their way onto the ol’ internet and I’ll get a taste. Until then, I’ll leave you with a Joanna song short enough to throw up (aka, not from Ys)!!
