Your LOL Moment of the Week

A while back, I bought the theme song for the show Welcome Back, Kotter. Because, let’s face it: that’s a great song. I passed it in my iTunes today, and it put me on a spree of listening to a bunch of theme songs from shows. It was when I searched for ‘Full House Theme Song’ that I struck upon our LOL moment of the week. I saw a number of people saying that a recent song by Green Day very closely resembles the theme from Full House. Which meant I had to delve deeper. Whether it was cryptomnesia, blatent theivery, or just a longing for the lost days of Uncle Jesse, it seems as though Full House has found its way into the subconcious of the boys from Green Day. Don’t believe us? Have a listen for yourself:

Your LOL Moment of The Week

This has probably been around for a while, but I just saw this for the first time today. I am by no means an NBA fan, but I can appreciate good humor, especially when it’s done by puppets. A new campaign by Nike features NBA stars Kobe Bryant and LeBron James in puppet form living together and the shenanigans that comes from it. Nike definitely hit this ad campaign out of the park, and for that, “You ain’t got no defense!” is your LOL moment of the week.

Song & Your LOL Moment o’ the Week

Along with the 19th installment of Song o’ the Week comes a really great LOL moment. The song o’ the week has been a brief hiatus, but I’m glad to say it’s back. Until I run out of material. Anyway, this is a Radiohead-themed post, so I hope that’s not a problem. Donovan and I had the pleasure of seeing Marissa Nadler a while back, and her voice is just as haunting live as it is in studio. Which fits “No Surprises” perfectly.

Now to the real reason for the post. Donovan pointed out that when Conan started in 1993, his musical guest the first night was none other than Radiohead. What makes this great is not only young Conan, but check out the hair on Thom.

Your LOL Moment of the Week

Nothing you’ve seen can prepare you for “Tha Pumpsta.” Let me assure you, this man is a real life person, an actual musician with a PR company, a MySpace, and everything. Yet somehow, it is difficult to imagine that such a human exists. Check out this video:

After watching the video, its impossible to find words that can describe my utter amazement. First of all, this looks more like an SNL skit than anything else. Second, Tha Pumpsta is definitely on drugs. Third, I can’t believe that anyone would take the time out of their life to make this video. Part of me is sorry that I even posted this for public viewing, but it’s too priceless. I can promise you you’ll never see Tha Pumpsta on fork/knife ever again, I just wanted to share the absurdity. I hope part of you enjoyed it.

Your LOL Moment of the Week

Taking a page from Chandler’s book, I present you with the fork/knife LOL moment of the week. This weekend, Olympic superstar Michael Phelps was caught on camera smoking weed from a bong. Nice one, dude. While this wouldn’t really be a big deal if Phelps was just some dude, it turns out that it’s got some pretty serious implications for the swimmer. Apparently, Olympic rules specify that competing athletes must be clean of illicit drugs for four years prior to the Games. So this means Phelps may not be able to swim in the 2012 Olympics. Woops.

Phelps had this to say about the incident:

“I’m 23 years old and despite the successes I’ve had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner people have come to expect from me. For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not happen again.”

Your LOL Moment of The Week

This isn’t the start of a new segment, but if you see it again I wouldn’t be surprised. It should be stated that a few of us here at fork/knife play a good deal of video games, most of the time being Halo 3. But while looking through IGN’s upcoming releases of ‘09, I found myself with raised eyebrows and astonished look at this screenshot…

Yup, that’s 50 Cent holding a fully automatic SAW or something of that nature in….you guessed it: the Middle East. Being released in late February, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand will have you running around as members of G-Unit or some shenanigans like that. I think it’s safe to say the gaming world has found it’s turd target for the year. I can take a lot of bad games. But come on…50 Cent in the Middle East? IGN also says it will feature “a number of songs that 50 Cent hasn’t released anywhere else.” Yippee! I’d post a song by 50 Cent if I had one, or if you actually wanted to hear it.
