Night Control
I don’t really know how it happened, but I missed this release when it dropped earlier this year. It’s a shame too, because I wish I had as much time as possible with it. Like most great albums, more layers are revealed with more listens, and the experience from it gets better and better. The album is Death Control, the debut collection of home recordings by Christopher Curtis Smith (aka Night Control), and it’s all I’ve been listening to recently. Weighing in at an almost overwhelming length of 19 songs and 70 minutes, Smith takes us on a hazy, atmospheric, loud, and poppy journey from start to finish. I strongly suggest checking out his MySpace page here, and if you’re liking that head over to Kill Shaman to buy the cd here. I’m assuming you already have your hands full with all the fantastic albums that have been released this year already, but don’t let this one pass you by like it almost did to me. Here’s one of the more laid back songs off the album.
