God Bless the Man Who Stumbles
David Bazan’s new album, Curse Your Branches, is awesome. Quick background: Bazan was raised an Evangelical Christian, and made great music with the Christian indie-rock band Pedro the Lion for years. Then, married and 30 years old, he had a sort of existential crisis, and went from Evangelical Christian to Atheist in the span of a year. After a long struggle with alcoholism, he’s back in full force, starting up his solo career. Full of thoughts about God, religion, and family, Curse Your Branches tackles some tough subject matter. All in all, it’s highly recommended. Here’s my favorite song.
