Volcano Choir

If you are reading this then there is probably a good chance you know who Bon Iver is, and if you don’t I suggest you grab yourself a copy of For Emma, Forever Ago, one of f/k’s ten best albums of ‘08.

The man behind Bon Iver, Mr. Justin Vernon, has been a busy man since the official release of For Emma last February. Since he has toured extensively, released an EP, and most recently he’s teamed up with fellow Wisconsinites Jon Mueller, Chris Rosenau, Jim Schoenecker, Daniel Spack, and Thomas Wincek to create the latest masterpiece, Unmap.

The band goes by the moniker Volcano Choir and, actually, predates the days of Bon Iver with original songwriting which dates back to the summer of 2005. As their biography on Jagjaguwar says, “With the vibe of some intimate backwoods gospel, plus a spirit of patience and thoughtful repetition, the music of Volcano Choir is as dynamic as it is lovely.”

Since I am at a loss of words for how to describe this music, I’ll let it speak for itself.
