I’m starting to feel like we’ve forgotten about hip-hop here at fork/knife. Sure, you could say the four of us are indie-rock fans. There’s only so much to say about it, though. Sometimes it seems like all music blogs are touting the same new bands, the same bands that are getting hype and attention in places like The Hype Machine or Pitchfork, etc. So, I think I’m going to start to shake things up a bit more.
Let’s start off with MURS. The acronym stands for “Making Underground Raw Shit”. Sure, it may sound cheesy – Murs is anything but. His appeal? Honest, genuine rap with lyrics that matter.
